job offer withdrawn, due to bad debts

Options
Had a verbal offer for 3months contract where I worked once before, where they were aware of my circumstances even then..

just got a message to say latest offer now recalled as ccj's still o/s.. they had no issues with this last year, so why now??

getting the job will HELP pay them off- and i'm not the type of person who steals or is tempted too.. like you would get away with it- very tight controls there, when transferring funds.

grrrr.

Sorry to hear that brightonman123, it is one of those vicious circles where you want to get out of debt, but because you are in debt you have trouble finding work to pay off your debts (that sentence makes sense in my head!).

Good luck with finding something else x

Apparently, the type of job can make a difference for this.

My OH interviews/vets people for jobs in the banking/financial industry. Her job involves tracing/tracking EVERY aspect of a candidates life up to and including the last five years. She has mentioned before that CCJs are one reason that can bar people from the 'shop floor'. I'm actually glad that banks are taking this approach to their workers.

I've just had a chat with my OH about this thread, and she has just typed this out for me/you (the following italics are hers).......................

Most companies are comfortable to employ staff who have CCJs, provided that there is evidence that they are being repaid; ie: a payment plan is set in place and it can be shown that it is being adhered to. If a plan is not in place, this may not be acceptable within company policy although unless there has been a recent change of policy it does not seem clear why this should make a difference in this case.

Another factor maybe how long the repayment plan is over and what the CCJ was incurred for.
