That's amazing that you've lost 14lbs in 5 weeks (that's a stone isn't it?)!:T Is this with dieting as well, or just with the running?

A bit of both. :D I'm still on Week 2 even after 5 weeks :o, but it's doing me so much good. I was always active (2 kids and 3 dogs to run about after), but I've just upped the intensity. I could happily walk for 10/15 miles without thinking about it, but run? Never!

Plus we cycle to school now instead of walking or driving. It's the simple "calories eaten less than calories used" that's shifted the weight.

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.

well done on the weight loss :) and congrats to everyone who's running! i have a policy of not going near scales too often but i've been running for almost 6 weeks now and have definately noticed some shrinkage around the waist, people have been saying i'm looking more streamlined now, if i sorted out my eating i'd be losing much more i imagine (need to tell my mum to stop baking cakes!!). it seems to be helping my knees too, i've been taking a high dose of cod liver oil every day along with it. just need to cull the smoking now and i'll be flying!

i've had to stick at the start of week 5 on the podcasts for the last week just to get comfortable with the 5 minute runs. i hate to complain about the glorious weather but the heat doesn't half make it harder! i'm so chuffed though, i've never been remotely athletic let alone a runner. have been reccommending the podcasts to everyone i meet! :)

That's sounds like a good idea. Does anyone know of a vegetarian alternative to cod liver oil?

I noticed in the supermarket the other day that they sell a vegetarian alternative to omega 3 (or was that 6?) tablets. I didn't notice a veggie alternative to cod liver oil, but I wasn't really looking. Might be worth a look. I was in Morrisons by the way.

    The answer is Flaxseed Oil!

I was thinking of buying some good running shoes...was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for where to buy, what type/make etc?
    Thanks!

Asics seem to be the best quality for your money, and as far as choosing you need to go to a shop where they will look at how you run so they can recommend some suitable for your feet. Not sure where for you as i dont know where you live lol but a good sports shop will be able to help you.

Here's the link (looks good): http://c25k.com/

Thank you for this link!!! I have downloaded the first of these podcasts and did my second session today. This is the first time I have ever managed to really get going and I think I am going to manage to stick with it until I am running properly!

All credit to Nottslass- I had never even heard of 'k25k' or knew that such a thing existed! I just googled it as she suggested, and I think it's fantastic. I've just got to the end of week 4- but I notice that week 5 has 20 minute runs all in one go! Eeeek!!! I may just repeat week 4 until I get some decent running shoes....

Me and DH are both doing it together- it's great as we can motivate eachother.
