Pipex used to be great, until they were recently taken over by Tiscali! YOu might want to read this, which will help you understand their shocking customer service.

My only suggestion is to write to them, recorded delivery, saying that you're giving them 1 months notice to end your contract (from your next direct debit day), and the last direct debit will be on <date>. Then cancel the direct debit with the bank.
Point out in the letter you have tried calling to cancel, but can't get through to anyone who speaks english. Perhaps send one copy recorded delivery to the managing director, and another to the contract office.
The head office address is on their web page at the bottom ( Pipex Internet Limited, a Tiscali UK company, 20 Broadwick Street, London W1F 8HT), but this is different to the address they tell you to write to them at, which is:
Pipex Internet Limited
4 Falcon Gate
Shire Park
Welwyn Garden City
AL7 1TW
Numbers for Pipex are 0800 1076453 or 01707 299506 (according to saynoto0870.com)Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Does any service actually have a 3 years long cancellation period?0 -

I used to be with them and was relatively happy until I moved away to Virgin (free broadband - but pants service). Pipex wrote to me about 9 months after I'd left saying I owed them money, I replied saying fine, send me a detailed bill then I'll pay. I've yet to get anything back other than some more "Pay this bill NOW" letters.
It's a shame as I would have gone back to them after my stint with virgin but I just can't be bothered with the effort.Space for rent, apply within - Free trial on Thanks button though0 -
I had pipex for my mum (in my name) and called give 30 days notice in Jan / Feb 2008.
Was immediately offered 2 months free and accepted on the condition I could cancel at the end of the 2 months without penalty or new notice.
You know what is coming next
Cancelled and got a letter saying I owed £29.98 (2 months rental), called up and had the amount credited (and an aplogy from a pleasant UK person)
Then got a letter from a debt recovery place in April for £14.99. Called up and was told owed 1 months notice.
Replied in writing asking for evidence of monies owed, and copies of calls.
Another debt recovery letter this week, another recorded delivery letter asking for evidence. Both without replies.

Not sure I quite follow this thinking, the internet connection speed won't have suddenly changed whether the PC/laptop you are using is better spec or not.
Tiscali/Pipex are rubbish now though, wouldn't touch them with a barge pole!Out of my mind. Back in 5 minutes.0 -

You can pay a fortune for a PC because of components such as CPU, RAM, graphics card, motherboard-which do affect the general speed of programs loading/opening (including an internet browser) and performance in that sense, but I really would not expect a significant speed change (or any!) for an internet connection between a PC several years old and a brand new one.Out of my mind.
