room colour advice

finally ready to paint, all plastering is done and am thinknig of going brilliant white walls and ceiling and either grey or black tile-effect quick step laminate flooring. has anyone got any adice on colour combo's, experiences etc or know of any sites where you can paint a 'virtual room' to your colour?

Be very sure brilliant white is what you want, it can be very harsh and it can also show up every imperfection on the walls.
What about considering one of the 'shades of' white you get? Still a very light finish but a little easier on the eye maybe?

mr skint i think you must of lived here previously! blood red floor tiles in the lounge and green carpet in kitchen, yellow skirting, white woodchip walls and dayglo orange coving i had to deal with 2 months ago wen i moved in0

I couldn't agree more.....brilliant white can be very cold and shows every mark. I wanted the same sort of effect as you but opted for Orchid white (Dulux, I think). I'm really pleased with it as it's very light and fresh, yet still has added warmth without going towards magnolia/cream.
It may be worth trying a few match pots to see what you like.0 -

What is the room you are decorating? Living room, kitchen?
Beware of using white in any area that has a lot of "traffic", you'll be surprised how often you end up touching walls in halls and on stairs. Also you need to protect areas around light switches as they get grubby very quickly."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0
