Student Jobs

Thought it was probably the best place to ask as if anyone knows then someone here should. I currently work in retail at weekends to fund university (actually mainly petrol to uni these days) but find it the most demoralising experience as the managers see me as "wasted time" which in fairness I probably am as I have no intention of staying with the buisness as it is completely irrelevant to my degree.
Im currently at the end of my first year in a Biomedical Science degree and was wondering if there are ANY vaguely relevant jobs (teaching included as I may pursue this option) that students have a chance of getting. I can work over Summer and at weekends during term time.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Jade.

have you thought of looking at small biotech firms in the area and asking if they have summer projects or technical work available? If you want something relavent then it's always worth asking round your department to see if you can get an short project in a research lab over the summer as one of the researchers may have summer student cash sitting around (normally these are 8 weeks or so and don't pay that much, but it all helps). During term time, its worth contacting the student services or student support people to see if they need note-takers. I'd always been lucky with jobs in Uni libraries, you really need to watch the noticeboards for these as they are rare.
Teaching is hard work, but if you have those "revision" colleges around your area (we have a fair few up here) they may be after staff and might consider you. Looking in the local paper for people or firms wanting tuition or tutors is a good place to start, but you might be limited in your options with tuition for public exams as you've only just started your degree. best of luck,. cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0
