Lloyds Tsb account types

I was checking my bank statement today and noticed that my gold account fee has gone up from £10 a month to £12 a month without lloyds bothering to tell me about this. gah!

It really gets on my nerves when this type of thing just goes up with no warning, I considered ringing lloyds and asking about downgrading my account but they will just try and talk me out of it and im not sure what the next one down is, I used to have a select account but dont think that exists anymore. On the website when I looked it was just telling me about upgrades to platinum etc etc.

Also might think about changing to another bank as Lloyds have cheesed me off a few times this year, does anyone have any opinions good or bad on Alliance & Leicester plz?

The next one down is Silver I think. They've changed the account names.

Classic Plus is free and pays a reasonable amount of interest up to #2,500 (funding of #1000/month and use internet banking regularly)

They wrote to everyone a couple of months ago, it was in the mailing explaining the new benefits.

I was told of this in a letter a few months ago.
Are you sure you just thought it was marketing rubbish and binned it?

You can certainly downgrade to Silver but note that the insurance will not cover you for any medical pre-condition and that it only covers European holidays not worldwide.

I had this in a leaflet insert to my statement. You probably binned it.

They probably sent it to my old address as I moved recently. I might downgrade it to silver but need to find out what I will and wont be getting with that.
