IKEA Customer Service - or lack of!

I purchased a blind from IKEA a while ago and when I came to use it discovered it was the wrong size. Unfortunately I have not got the receipt anymore. Upon returning the blind to the same IKEA store from which it was purchased there was a sign in the 'customer service' area stating that refunds/exchanges/credit notes will not be issued without a receipt!
This seems rather unfair as the item is still in it's original packaging and it is clear to see it is an IKEA only product!

Is this the 'norm' for customer service/refunds etc???

Maybe IKEA's customer service is not as good as it should be?
Anyone else have the same problem????

To be fair though, without a receipt there is no proof of how much was paid for it.

Items could have had a price change since they were bought, or they could even have been stolen and then returned for a refund.

Annoying for the customer who has a genuine problem but understandable from the shops point of view.

Lol, you never said it was that size.

Seriously though, I do know of someone who 'forgets' to put all the stuff on their trolley onto the belt and whizzes the trolley through past the checkout girl so she doesn't see.

If the place is busy, this apparently works well.
