woolworths, superdrug- shame on you!
not the first time i've been in these shops, to be almost overcome (such bargain.. lol) by the intense lighting and heating (yes, HEATING, in this fine weather..)
situation was mentioned to the staff, who dont seem bothered? but i would be, if had to work in such conditions..
just a quick shop was unbearable.. and to think of those poor eco-carbon watsits being wasted..

It may not actually be heating.
I work in a shop (although not as big as Woolies or Superdrug) and in the summer it is completely unbearable, even the chocolate on the shelves melts. We have no heating, the heat comes purely from the fridges, the lights, the lighted display cabinets etc.
We do have air conditioning but apart from the day it was installed, I don't think that it has ever worked! Can you imagine hearing 60 times a day 'Crikey, it's hot in here, how do you cope?'

You forgot the deafening pop music - there solely for the benefit of the teenage staff !0 -
I used to work in a small M&S, and customers would often complain at how COLD it was in the store, especially in the summer!Watch this space...0

Funny, working in a bank we get complaints from our customers about how we're ruining the environment with our air conditioning. I try and explain that we can't exactly prop the back door open...0

I can confirm this.
Come on, do you really think they've had heating on during the last few days!0 -
the s/drug i went to is in the churchill square mall- itself not exactly the coolest place, but there is a markable difference going inside this shop.Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

I remember taking my car to the local Vauxhall dealer for a service. For such a shabby outfit the air con was on full blast - it was lovely.:D
Then the next day we took my dads car to the local Merc dealer and their glass palace. The place didn't even have a/c and it must have been 40C in there! :eek:The man without a signature.0 -
I used to work in a pets at home store, they have no air-con.
In summer we had the doors on permanent open, fans onto the animal runs, and frozen bottles of pop for them to rub themselves on. Poor things were still stretched out trying to cool down.
(they always passed the inspection for the license, so it must have been OK for them, but I am glad I am not a furry)
Oh and us staff were roasting too...
The heating wasnt on, but the roof is metal and there are loads of lights so it just seems to be hot all the time.
It was 2 doors away from an iceland store so I used to enjoy being asked to go and get some milk, so I could walk through a cool store.0 -
