i got a flyer today from an electric company telling me if i went to them i would get a FREE electric usage monitor, i`m with Atlantic and the flyer was from southern which are the same people just different names,

so i phoned up Atlantic and said i`m with you but your other branch is going to give me a free monitor if i go to them and i`ll also save a bit of money (0.05p), can you give me one to save all the hassle of switching they said nope (phoned southern said the same still no unless i go to them)

so i did a google search looking who else was giving then, and it turns out that last year the goverment said that from this year if a customers asks for a power monitor they are to be given one FREE,

so again phoned atlantic who knew nothing about this, spoke to another dept who knew nothing about this. so just wondering has anybody asked for one from there supplier and been given one?

Our electricity is with Southern and gas with Atlantic. We received a flyer with one (can't remember which) about this a few weeks ago. It pointed us to the website for more info, but nothing on there. So I didn't bother looking any further.

I received one from Southern Electric a week or so ago, I had to switch to another option, but the prices are the same.

Yeah you will need to switch to a loyalty product called betterplan, the free monitor is one of a few benfefits.

I thinks its avalible for Southern Electric, Scottish Hydro and Swalec. Not too sure about Atlantic, as the 13 month rebate is the only thing they give away on that brand.

I have never come across a company that has to give a free energy monitor to customers just because they ask, but of course, i may be wrong.

That was dropped as a policy I think a few weeks ago.

 I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

I did post on this in another thread as I signed up and got one for free (even though I never knew about it).
