lloyds tsb phone calls

Options
Just had a phone call on an ex-directory number from (supposedly) a LLoyds TSB Research Group? asking if I'd mind answering a few questions. The lady spoke with a foreign accent and had no idea of the pronuciation of our surname which immediately made me a bit suspicious. I replied yes I would but could I have their number please and I would call them back. To which she said they could not accept incoming calls???? In 40 years of banking with LLoyds, I have never ever had one phone call from them. Whaddya all reckon??

well..........................it might not be related at all, but over the last 2 months we have been constantly receiving phone calls from lloyds tsb, i have rang and asked them to take our mobile numbers off their system, that didn`t work. one day my son answered the phone, explained we were both at work, and lloyds asked if he had a work phone number they could ring!! all this was to make an appointment for an account review! nothing wrong with my account, i didn`t want to change anything. After being on the phone approximately half an hour last night, explaining why i couldn`t attent a review (which i asked, and they aren`t compulsary)as we both work long hours and sat, the woman on the phone said, well you do realise your overdraft facillity is up for renewal!!! i asked her if that was a threat, she wasn`t happy, and hung up on me.

i`m now looking to bank with the alliance and leicester!!

About 4 months ago, I had a call allegedly from Lloyds TSB wanting to ask me a few questions on a Sunday evening around 9 p.m.
Told them I wasn't at all impressed by someone ringing me at that time of night and on a Sunday. Foreign girl, quite arrogant (my husband's foreign, so no problems there). Asked her to give me her phone number so I could check it out. Was told she didn't see why she should, because I hadn't taken part in any interview/survey at that point. All the same I insisted, and eventually she told me. She was doing some market research on behalf of Lloyds and told me the name of the company she worked for (or call centre).
Whilst I was on line, I checked out what she said, and it did seem a legitimate survey set up worldwide. Even so, I wasn't playing ball. Wrote and complained to Lloyds about getting such calls, when I'm down for no contact and got a 2 page letter of grovelling apology and an offer of a variety of goodies - so I selected the 6 bottles of wine!

Sounds like you have recently 'transacted' at a LTSB branch and these people want to know your views of the ''experience'' (Why these HO cretins can't get real jobs is beyond me). At the end they will ask you for a score between 1 and 10.

Any low scores where the customer has consented to be contacted (yes we know who you are !) will be telephoned by the branch manager.
It would seem that the main thing customers are complaining about is queuing.
To improve queuing times to me you need more cashiers, which in turn will cost the bank more money, so basically it won't happen!

I work for LTSB. That sounds Fraudulent. We only call out on listed numbers not ex-directory and on outbound, we can't give our direct number , but can give u the standard one. Call centres open 9-8pm mon-fri and Saturdays 10am-5pm .

A real advisor would ASK to speak to you, by your full name and not proceed until you have said that it is you. Then tell you what the call is about without giving away any info , e.g. if you hold any accounts with LTSB at all. then proceed and if its a call related to eligibility (i.e. if uve become eligible for say a silver account) and you want one, still no info is given out, and the security questions are ones only yourself and the bank can know, i.e. you had a recent visa transaction/debit transaction to <company name>, asking for the amount. it would be something not listed on any statement. Within the past few days. and another 1-2 questions.

only then can the advisor give information such as your balance etc.

What you can do is read out the last 4 digits of your account number wrong and see if they respond correctly. They can confirm, but not say if its wrong.

    Hope that helps

Thanks for your replies. We've written a letter to the branch we bank with, so it will be interesting to know if it was a fraud or not. Will let you know...........

Well, we've had a letter back from our branch "Team Leader".
The bank does apparently make calls on a monthly basis to ensure customer service levels are maintained etc but as the call was not made from our branch, they are "unable to confirm" whether they did contact us that day.
Huh?? Surely a phonecall to head office from them could have checked?........This strikes of the right hand not knowing what the left.hand.......

    Not impressed at the moment.
