Problems with a Car Dealer - HELP
Hi,
I purchased a car 2 months ago from a Dealer advertising on eBay. I negotiated a good price on the car, and when he would not budge any more on the price, I asked if he would include an extended warranty (he was already offering 1 month). He agreed to 3 months on the Engine and Gearbox. I got this in writing on a receipt I printed along with the cars HPI report.
Now the car is giving me a few problems, it keeps loosing power and is making a weird noise, like it is sucking air in somewhere. I believe (from a few people giving me advice) that it is a Vacuum problem, or possibly the Mass Air Flow meter. Both will cost £50 - £100 to sort out, which I know is not a massive amount of money, but I do not have it going spare and as I have a warranty with the car, it should be sorted by the dealer.
However, when I rung him yesterday he said that he would only cover MAJOR problems. I finally got him to agree for his mechanic to take a look at it, and I went through yesterday. His mechanic just sprayed some Induction cleaner on the MAF meter and the problem was still there. He said to ring the dealer to arrange a time to drop the car off as it will take a few hours. Bearing in mind that it is a 40 mile round trip for me, and I have already done it about 5 times due to a few problems with the MOT when I first bought the car.
I rang the dealer yesterday and when he finally answered he said to bring it through today at 2 PM (look at the time of posting) but to ring him first. I rang him today, and after several attempts he said that I could not bring it today as his wife had the Diagnostics machine in her car, and he could not get in touch with her. So now I have to go back tomorrow.
On the phone he said that the sensor is not part of the engine and that he would charge me for the parts that need replacing.
What are my rights in this situation? Is there anyone I can call about it?
Thanks!

Check around the air box and intake pipe that there isn't a hole, or a leak.
What marque of vehicle is it?0 -
It is a 2003 Corsa 1.2 16v SXI. Its only done 39000 and has full service history.
Thanks!
I could do with Mr T to crush that fool (The Car Dealer)0 -
Surely you should be claiming off the company that does the warranty, not the dealer?0
-
He has offered me a warranty through his garage that he owns as well, so it is not a warranty company offering the repair, hence the reason I have gone to him.0

Join a Corsa forum (loads around) and ask. It will very likely be a lot easier to sort it out yourself, and you may be lucky and find that it is a common problem.0
