Plumbing for Ikea kitchen

Hi,
I am about to put the plumbing in for my Ikea kitchen, but I believe that they don't have any space behind for the pipes? Does this mean I will have to set the plumbing to run along the floor?
Thanks

Most kitchen unitsl have space behind the units. The units are built with a "hidden" part where the pipes sit, they won't affect the units - unless you have a long pipe run along the wall, then you might need to cut out small portions from the back of the unit (this is part of the hidden construction, so no holes will be visible)....
I've just looked at the Ikea website, and it doesn't really say but it does give the impression that there is no space for pipes, if that is the case then do what you suggested and run the pipes along the floor then up into the sink unit.0 -
oh Yes,
I installed my IKEA kitchen last year and adaze is right - ikea do not put space behind units for pipework, electrics etc. The hardboard back completely encloses the unit - presumably so IKEA can brag about how much space you get. You will have to run it all along the floor. or bury it in the wall. or run it all under the floor and just pop up into the sink housing unit. the drain pipe will need to exit out of the back of the unit as well so you are going to have to chop up the base unit back a bit anyway.0 -
No space at back of units, but not a big problem really. I have had two IKEA kitchens, and the extra space is worth it. Build the carcasses yourself to save money, watch out for plastic feet - they can break if you are not careful. Fitters don't like IKEA because they can't hide bodges IMO. Get a good fitter, and make sure they read the instructions, you will be very happy.0

Hi
You have 150mm of height to fix pipes on the wall behind the units. .Drill holes in the base to get them up into the unit. Waste pipe (if it doesn't exit directly out the back ) can be fed through holes core drilled in the sides of the units left or right. I have not had a problem with Ikea units and plumbing. The only thing I would not buy is the Ikea waste kits for the sink .

true ikea waste kits are a nightmare and take up all your cupboard0

I don't know if they have changed them, but I have just had an Ikea kitchen installed, with one of there double sinks. The waste kit is compact, and much smaller than the (admittedly, badly fitted) previous pipework.
No complaints from the fitters either.0
