EBIco extortionate for Elec, cheap for gas
I was reviewing my bills and worked out that EBIco's electricity is now very expensive compared to some others.
We cook with electric, so I pay approx £490 a year for elec and £320 a year for gas.
The comparison sites come up with British Gas click energy 5 as the cheapest tariff to switch to, (an extortionate £387 for gas but a cheaper £381 for elec) but as fas as I know that's dual fuel only, so I dont understand why it is shown when I ask for elec comparison only.
So I have two questions.
Can I switch just the elec to British Gas?
If I do, will my tariff for gas from EBIco go up?
Thanks in advance!
Ed

Ebico gas will stay the same, EAB..even when switching electric to british gas.
Assuming gas central heating tis an awful amount for electric. Have you tried steaming and slow cooking and pressure cooking. And modern microwaves will do convection cooking, and grilling and easy to clean.0 -
Thanks Ken
We do use a lot of electricity. We cook at least once every day with an electric cooker and constantly have a dishwasher or washing machine running. Family of 4, with two messy boys!
Which is why the BG electric tariff seems like a big saver.
I switched.0 -

Ebico is good for very low users and pre-pay as you don't have a daily charge or two tier rates.
Other tariffs, particularly internet tariffs, are better for the average/high users; particularly if you have dual fuel and pay by direct debit as you can get discounts on the tariff.0 -

Yes, you can choose British Gas Click Energy for Electricity only, I have exactly the combo you have. British Gas (although I am on Click 4 as its cheaper to stay rather than change to Click 5 for me) for Electricity and Ebico for my Gas. Works well.

Oh !!!!!
British gas putting their prices up!
This happened to me when I switched to EBI, they put their prices up in between the time I switched and the time I was actually connected!
I'm jinxed0 -
When BG put up their prices no doubt everyone will follow suit, Click Energy will probably still be competative with the market when the dust settles although we will still be being stung for high unit costs.. Time will tell as always..0
