Dear all, anyone aware of how much just-dial charge for calls to 0845 & 0870 numbers and how do these charges compare to BT. I guess you would still need to make some of these calls through BT anyway to keep the caller display thingy going.
P.S sorry if this is answered elsewhere but I couldn't find it.

Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

This has just been noticed today and I have emailed them and queried this. I shall post answer in this thread when I get it.
Either way, they'll be more expensive than BT because of the way the whole revenue-generating numbers work. It is generally recommended to use the CPS override 1280 when making calls to to 084x/087x numbers, or use one of the few dial through operators that may be cheaper.
If you don't make that many calls to these numbers and assuming you can't find the geographical alternative in the website Mr Skint posted, then have them route via BT instead.0 -

I think that the best settings [more or less!] are:
0845 - Dialaround @2p/min during peak rate daytime.....BT at all other times
0870 - 18185 @ 4p/min during peak rate daytime....BT at all other times0 -
At first, they seem to be good but when you look carefully there is a lot of information missing from there website like detailed pricing to these numbers or personal numbers. also they don't mention anything about connection fees. Do we assume that there are none ? Hope so as my registration has gone through.

There are no connection fees. The website is not the best on the block to say the least.PF.0 -
They charge a 5p minimum call charge (for chargable calls). They do list international rates and mobiles. I think it could just be an oversight that they've forgotten to mention 0845/0870 type numbers. As for personal numbers and premium rate, these type of numbers aren't as popular/common and I agree they should list them but to be honest not very many companies do especially premium rate because the rates vary considerably depending on number dialled, etc. The likes of 0845/087x numbers should be listed as they are as common as geographical calls.0

so, if I am on JustDialSaver, and i have to make a 0845 call during daytime on weekdays, I should do it via DialAround, using the 0844 462 6868 number which charges 2p/min.
My questions are: How do I make this 0844 call? Should I use the 1280 to go thru BT then dial the 0844 number, or can I dial 0844 straight away and let JDS handle the call?
With regards to DialAround, anyone know if there is any connection charge? and do i still have to put the international number to call 0845 numbers? example, put 0044 in front and leave out the '0' in 0845, as in 0044845xxxxxx or just 0845xxxxxx?0 -
I'm not sure if JustDial carry 0844 calls themselves or not. Just in case I would dial 1280 (to route call back via BT) and then the access number. This also ensures that it is the cheapest rate because of the way revenue-sharing works, BT are pretty much the cheapest when it comes to 0844 numbers (and some other NGN's).slowmo wrote:How do I make this 0844 call? As it's BT that charge for dialling the 0844 access number then it is just a minimum call charge of 5p (I think it's 5p). DialAround's website here do state that you have to dial the number in international format and add a '#' (hash) at the end. With regards to DialAround, anyone know if there is any connection charge? and do i still have to put the international number to call 0845 numbers? example, put 0044 in front and leave out the '0' in 0845, as in 0044845xxxxxx or just 0845xxxxxx?0 -

There is no minimum call charge to call 0844 indirect access numbers.however if you dont get connected a minimum call charge will still apply usually 5p.
Strictly you only have to dial in intl format if you are dialling an international number, not a UK number. But in fact it doesnt matter what way you present eg 08456123456# or 00448456123456# your still get through.
https://www.dialwise.co.uk also offer 2p a min calls to 0845 numbers. Access number is 0844 462 63 63.PF.0
