Yes, roasted chicken is fine to freeze, once had a roast chicken salad at the local pub and their chook was frozen in the middle (wasn't happy about that mind you! ) So make sure you defrost it well if you plan on using it cold. ;)

 Would you really just throw away perfectly good food ?

It is perfectly OK to freeze the cooked chicken, however when you defrost it DON'T cook it again -eat it cold. And don't freeze for a second time.

You could make a huge pile of chicken sandwiches and freeze those ;)

you can have it hot.. it just has to be heated thorooughly and right the way through

You shouldn't freeze it in sandwiches.. that would be refreezing already frozen and defrosted cooked meat.. which you aren't meant to do either.

I'd cook it.. eat what I needed for one meal for my family. Pick/slice the rest off and refreeze in portions.. sling the carcass in for stock/stew.

The frozen cooked portions I would defrost and use as needed.

As if I would EVER have enough left from anything to freeze a bit!

Ooops, sorry didn't explain myself properly :o . I didn't mean freeze the cooked meat, then defrost and then refreeze as sandwiches. I meant make sandwiches now, with the cooked chicken and freeze those ;)

I'm sure the 'official' advice is not to reheat meat that has been cooked and frozen. But, now I think about it I freeze cooked ham (from a joint) and use the meat in hot dishes all the time. I think you must be right Pigpen;)

I always freeze the left over roast chicken to have with curry, chicken and leek pie, chicken pancakes etc.

Just make sure you defrost it well and heat it very thoroughly (and don't freeze it a second time) ;)

That would mean that you shouldn't cook a lasagna or shepherds pie, freeze it and then heat it up  Do that one all the time too.

    Don't go chucking it out..............

I always turn any left over in to curry, mind you there is never much left, the fridge seems to have mice, that wander by and help themselves.
