Hmm, not sure if this will work, am attempting to create a poll.
I've read through the threads regarding ICICI and ICE save, and to be honest, they both seem as bad as each opther for messing up transfers/customer service etc (and as good as each other for interest rates on their 1 year fixed rate bond (7%).
So the poll is, If you had 20K to put to one side for a year adn didn't want to risk it on teh stockmarket, would you choose ICICI or ICEsave?
Cheers (hope this works, if not would you mind relpying with your answer below? - Much appreciated).

Interesting poll finmonkey
have voted in favour of icesave, simply cos i have experience of them... poor reason i'm sure
wonder what other reasons ppl would have for their votes?0 -
Thanks Sordice, much appreciated, and yeah it would be useful if ppl who vote take the time to state their reasons.
Thanks0 -
Been a customer of both, ICICI were appalling, IceSave were OK.
I've had issues with both, and in my experience ICICI couldn't empty a boot full of <whatever> with the instructions written on the bottom - missing interest, miscalculated interest, double direct debits, CSAs who can't help etc...
At least IceSave backdated interest on a delayed ISA.Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
I persevered with ICICI for a long time because of its consistently high savings rates, but customer service was appalling and showed no signs of improving.
I opened my first IceSave a/c in November 2006 and never looked back. Customer service has been excellentPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
No experience of ICICI - there was too much negative feedback when it first opened for me to dip my toe in the water there. ICEsave - had from the beginning and never had any problems (touching wood here).0

I've voted IceSave. Not problems whatsoever with setting up other accounts and they've always been prompt with letters through the post detailing account details and subsequent letters detailing any changes I've made. Finally, very nice customer service!
ICICI - for me, no thanks. Anything relating to banks in India (ICICI) or even Nigeria (Firstsave) just aren't for me - I like my details safe! - Personal opinion and not wanting to take this thread off topic, this has already been discussed enough here.0 -
I agree with chesky3690

Been with Icesave since not long after they started up in the UK
Applied for an ICICI account a couple of months ago - heard nowt since.
No problem with the safety aspect of either, but one of them wants my dosh, the other one doesn't.0 -
I voted for Icesave - no contest really.
As previous poster I've tried on more than one occasion (3 in fact) to open ICICI accounts. Their CS leaves a lot to be desired. First time they cashed my opening £1 cheque then no further contact. It took two months to close the account and get my £1 back. 2nd & 3rd attempts nowt.
I still get account holder "junk" and interest rate change e-mails from them!?That just about sums them up.
In comparison - Icesave's CS and account operation A1. I have savings, ISA & fixed rates and each have been opened without delay and 100% efficiently. The ISA is a transfer from NS&I and took less than a week to complete. (full marks to NS&I for that too)0 -
Wow, that's 75% (n = 16) for icesave and just 25% (n = 5) ICICI. Thanks everyone, off to open my icesave account now!
(Please keep voting however, as I think this poll will help others decide also.)0
