FD Savings account with cheque book

Many years ago, I opened an offshore sterling FD account with StanChart. Along with the account came an International Access Account (IAA) which provides a cheque book which I still find very useful.

Today, the FD account is paying me a risible 2.73% interest (on £26,000) so I'm thinking of ditching it. I know there are many better paying offshore savings accounts available but how easy is it to find one that pays a descent interest as well as provides a cheque book linked to it? Is this something rare these days as people gradually give up paper cheque books?

In the uk , even pure current accounts are paying better than this but I'm not domiciled in the Uk (I'm a retired expat) so cannot apply for one.

I'd be grateful if anyone can suggest an alternative.

Trevor
