british gas click 5 tariff

Can anyone tell me other than a lower price from british gas what difference there is with this online tariff. Do you have to give meter readings to them? is it just that the billing is online? I called to ask them but they told me to look online however cant really find an explanation as to what the difference is to standard gas with online billing. Apparently you still get the £5 per year paperless billing discount and the 10.3% DD discount so should i swap to get the cheaper prices?
thanks

You have to give your meter readings - although they do still send meter readers from time to time.

I don't think the paperless discount applies any more.

If you are willing and capable of running an internet account, then it must make sense to go with BG Click 5 rather than their standard tariff.

thanks Cardew, do you know if there is a set dates you have to give the readings on, as this is the only worry with holidays etc

You can put in readings as often as you like. The principle being that with a pattern of use established any estimated reading would be pretty accurate.

Yes I do this with SP energy saver 2 and moving to BG click energy 5 in a few weeks when it transfers

I take readings once a month and put them in a database so I kow from month to month my energy consumption

    Moneysaver39,

If you go through Quidco to switch to Click 5 you will get £30-£60
cashback, depending on if you sign one or both energy types.

    Frank.
