My son has an 80GB iPod which was given to him as a gift by a teenage cousin. It came with a lot of music and videos on it and 'sync-ed' with his cousin's iTunes account. He now wants to add new music etc but it appears that we need to sync to our own computer which will delete the existing content (which he wants to keep). Is there any way round this

I don't think so. It's an anti-piracy measure. iTunes doesn't allow users to give copies of their music away. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

Technically you aren't supposed to do this, if you don't own the music yourself you are breaching the copyright. But if you search the Apple site for "moving iPod to a new computer" there are instructions.
Also if you search the forum here you'll find similar posts with information.0 -

Not that can be discussed here because it's illegal (copyright issues) unless the cousin gives his account to your son although I'm not sure Apple allow account transfers anyway."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Thanks to you all. Some useful things to follow up. Didn't know it was illegal so will try the Apple route first. A bit worried about downloading unknown software as my new computer is less than a week old and don't want any expensive mistakes!0

You will have no problems using YamiPod, unlike iTunes! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
