Tax Credit Help Needed ASAP re lodgers

My tax credits have been stopped, I haven't had any money for 2 weeks but asumed it was down to bank holiday, I haven't managed to sit down and call yet but just wondered if anyone could help.
The only thing I can think of is that I haven't declared I have a lodger as I didn't think this mattered. Basically I have a 6 year old and CFS so can only work part time, I barely earn enough to get to work and back so I have a lodger to pay half the bills and rent. I dont claim any other benefits, except child benefit.
Could my lodgers income be going against me tax credits claim even though we are seperate people on seperate incomes?
Please help me!!! I really am dreading calling them!

Lodgers mentioned there.
You should have informed them you have a lodger. If you know you've been overpaid but don't do anything about it, you could be suspected of committing benefit fraud. It's the same if you deliberately fail to report a change in your personal circumstances. If you're prosecuted for benefit fraud you could be fined or get a prison sentence, as well as having to repay the overpayment0 -
Your lodger will not affect your tax credits award at all unless it has been decided that you are cohabitating with someone and your single claim should be joint. Its probably just their error and you should ring them and ask0

Long story short, tax credits screwed up 3 years ago. Went 13 months without any money. Lots of letter writing later got it sorted out and have been getting giros ever since. New baby was born 6/03/2007 wrote to them within a few weeks with his birth certificate, sent it back to me with covering letter on the 17/04/2007. Still to this day have never received a penny for him. Then in February no giro, March no giro, April no giro, May no giro. Have been writing, all year the only time i got a response was when i sent it by recorded delivery, then all they asked was a conformation of when my son was born and his name. Still never heard anything so called them last week, the lady on the phone told me there was nothing at all on the system no notes or anything, as she put it it was like we had been ereased. Over the last couple of years my partner has been doing overtime so we can service our debts built up from when everything went wrong 3/4 years ago. Could anybody out there work out our payments so that i can work out if we have been overpaid and underpaid. 2005/2006 £14642 Two children 2006/2007£19100 Two children and baby born 06/03/2007 2007/2008 £19600 Two children and baby until 06/03/2008 Bearing in mind extra for baby under one and income is based on the year before because income is under the £25000 increment0

Sim11, you'll get a much better response if you start your own thread rather than hijacking somebody else's. It'll also help the OP to get a wider range of opinions.0
