I am working and studying for a degree, I need a laptop for my studies, anyway I can claim back the VAT or cost through my tax?

Not unless you are self employed and require a computer solely and exclusively for the purposes of your work (i.e. not your studies!).

Do you have a student card?
Who are you studying with?

It all depends.

I'm doing a Open Uni course (low level one) and I have a NUS card and I could get a student discount with this (I think it might 5%)
but when you study full time you can get 15% discount.

I've been looking up macs myself... do a google search for student discounts if you have a student card.
