Was thinking of getting an E-saver account, i take it you can't withdraw from it like from the cash machine of via a card?
Does it only allow you to pay money iinto the current account you have linked it to, bit like paypal?

It depends who you go with. I've got one with Abbey and that account is attached to my existing card (I have 3 accounts on one card). I can use this account like a normal one but cannot use the counter service. My other one is a Lloyds TSB and if I need to withdraw money I just transfer it to my 'normal' TSB account and do it this way.

Edit: Forogt to mention - you can always have a 'nominated' account if the esaver is a specialist one (ie one that has no high street branch)Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,340.34 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £155.04 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -

Still not 100% clear here, so if i get an esaver account with abbey then and attach it to my HBOS current account, i can use my HBOS current account debit card to take money out of the esaver from the cash machine, which doesn't sound right?0 -
Post Office has a reasonable rate for the first year at least, and you get a card with it, with, of course, access to any post office. Might be worth a look.0

I think the Abbey one only works with other Abbey accounts, if you want to put it on a card. Or you may be able to get a separate Abbey card just for the esaver - best to talk to one of their advisors. If you wanted to take money out with your HBOS card you would first have to transfer the money from your esaver to your HBOS account, which takes around 4-5 days (don't quote me on that) and then once it's in your account you can take it out. Basically it's just transferring money from one bank to another.
Hope that's a little clearer.Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,340.34 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £155.04 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -
How do you transfer money from Abbey esaver to a current account with say Nat West.
I cant see anywhere on their site where you can do this.
Hoping there is a way. Preferabley online. :exclamati0 -
The Yorkshire BS Internet Saver pays 5.7% and you get a LINK card
LINK card option
If you choose to have a LINK card on your Internet Saver account, you will be able to withdraw up to £250 per day in cash from over 30,000 cash machines around the country.0 -
The Abbey e-saver does allow cash withdrawals from its machines (and deposits, too). You can either ask for a card with it, or link it to an existing Abbey card that you have.
Most other e-savers only allow transfers between other accounts as a way to withdraw cash. With the Sainsburys e-saver, for example, you have to transfer money to another account that you can then withdraw from.
I use my Abbey e-saver as my method of all withdrawal and depositing, so I've got transfers set up between Abbey and all my bank accounts / credit cards / other savings accounts.
HTH.
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
I do have a card. But have never used it yet (must have had my account about 3 or 4 years now).
Anyhow, need to transfer a largeish amount of money as want to shrink/pay off my mortgage. Dont think card would let me draw out that much and wouldnt be wise.
Surely in this day and age someone must have transferred largeish amount of money from Abbey esaver to different current account. Or can you get a cheque from them?0 -
I have an e-saver account with my bank and it's easy to transfer into my current account with a few clicks and it's instant access.0
