Help! PC world refusing to refund

Options
What has happened was I bought a PC which turned out to be faulty, I sent it back but during this time my card details were stolen and used online somehow and I had to cancel my card, I contacted PC world who said they could only refund to the card used to pay.

I waited 10 days just in case the refund was sent jhst before the card was cancelled.

But no so I phoned back and was rudely spoken to by a woman who essentially says I have lost my cash as even though the refund didnt go through they are not willing to sent it again.

So they have £600 of my cash and admit to not bothering to refund any more.

What can I do legally?

What do your bank/credit card company say?
    Obviously they can't do this.

Paid by Barclays Visa Debit, havent contacted bank yet as I was going to ring back PC World and give them another chance once I know what to say.

Essentially she said that they have upheld their part of the deal, they attempted to refund but it didnt go through so they arent attempting again.

THeir part of the deal is regulated by the sale of goods act,not the "having a bad day act"!

They have to refund the money to YOU, not to a specific account. Would they refund the money to a closed bank account if you'd paid by switch?

Go back, take names, ask for the manager. Ask the manager to put it in writing.

Then pop to your local newpaper and give them a copy of his letter.

I had a Capital One credit card that had to be cancelled as it had to be cloned, Cap 1 issued me a new card but a subsequent refund (about 3 months later) to my old credit card number was re-directed by Cap 1 to my new credit card.

I know in your situation it is a debit card you used but if you contact the bank they may be able to help.

Well im off for an appointment to increase my overdraft in the morning so will ask then.

I barely got a chance to speak to the woman as even when I said whats going to happen to my money she said they already refunded it so its not their problem that my card was replaced.

Why do some people make tings so difficult? If you have canceled your credit card or it has expired then the money can be refunded to another credit card or account as long as you provide proof of identity. It is to protect the consumer and sadly sometimes gets in the way.

I would suggest taking your passport or some other photgraphic id plus a credit card bill on the old card and one on the new card.

Bottom line is that the debt (i.e. the refund) is owed to the OP. It doesn't need to go back on the card used - that is there internal policies. In this sort of situation, demand they refund within 7 days after explaining the situation. If not, start a small claims court action.
