removing name from joint bank account

Can anyone please advise. I have a joint tsb bank account with my ex partner, my name is still on the account and i want to have it removed. The account was frozen when we broke up 3 yrs ago. The bank allowed us to pay into the account each mth, to pay for a loan we both had. The loan is being paid of in the next few days which my solicitor is dealing with, this was an agreement that we both had when my house sold. The loan is being paid direct to the loans department and not via the joint account. On the account is a £400 overdraft, my ex used this to pay 2 of his mthly payments so, it is now £400 overdrawn. Will the bank still allow me to take of my name without his consent.

You will both have to consent to close the account and the bank will not allow your name to be removed whilst it is overdrawn.
It is called joint and several liability - it does not matter what caused the overdraft it will have to be repaid to have your name taken off.0
