Removing rusted screws! Help please!!

A steel framed arch came down in my garden when we had all those high winds a while ago and frankly, its knackered.

Am trying to dismantle it to take it to the recycling place but all the screws are well rusted and I can't budge them.

Any ideas anyone?

Give the screwdriver a good clout into the screw head with a hammer - then turn - may give you the extra purchase you need.

My Dad was an apprentice trained chippy and had nearly 2 million years experience in the trade (or so it seemed). He always said if you are having trouble with a screw, screw it in slightly first and then unscrerw it. I have used this frequently on stubborn screws and have found that it works most of the time.

If its going to scrap just cut the thing up with a hacksaw.
