John Lewis Fitted Kitchens

Options
OK so as of now my kitchen isn't actually installed but the service I have had from JL so far has been exemplary.

The time the staff spent on my initial design both in store and at the home visit was fantastic, I was left with drawings, pictues and itemised listings every time I made little changes adn never felt under any pressure. When I asked whether I could buy my appliances online as I could get them cheaper, the designer straightaway said that he would do an undersale on internet prices as it was part of a kitchen. He then went away and got me better undersales not only on the items I had found cheaper, but on the taps and lights as well. several times he dissuaded me from making some very expensive choices ( ie dh desperatly wanted a flip down TV) with sensible advice outlining the pitfalls of such things.

The kitchen was ordered and then I had a call from the dept saying the combination oven I had ordered was now discontinued and how did I want to proceeed. My initial recourse was to panic as the two ovens matched, when I relayed this to the dept they asked me for some time to think about the best way forward. I have now received a letter saying that after discussions with Miele the best option is for me to have the higher spec model of both items but that they will "of course" still honour the undersale prices. The price I am now paying is well over £500 less than the cheapest i can find the products for anywhere.

I didn't ask, I didn't have to complain it was just offered

Well done John Lewis ( I hope i don't come to regret this praise once the kitchen is installed!!)

Thanks for posting, it's so nice to hear of someone getting really good service with their kitchen (so far at any rate!). Ours needs replacing as soon as we can afford it, and I'm dreading it as I've heard nothing but horror stories until now.

Please, please, please come back later to tell us how it went! :D

JL Kitchens aren't cheap and we are buying at the top end of the range, fully installed, this is our treat to ourselves after paying off our mortgage:T .

We have a fairly large kitchen and all in all including all Miele appliances it is costing 25k but they do have a good range across different prices. They asked us our budget before hand from a range and then focussed on the products which would give us a kitchen of around that price. They have their own range of kitchens and then also offer the Alno range which is the one we have chosen.

The store we used was Milton Keynes and their staff were really knowledgeable and helpful so I would recommend going in to have a look around and a chat about budgets at least.

Still looking good! Kitchen units delivered today exactly on time all parts accounted for and now sitting snug in our garage waiting for the appliances to arrive tomorrow and the fitter on Monday. The fitter has already been around for a pre visit and checked out the electrics etc. He wants to make a slight modification to the fuse box or something but has now ordered the parts so they will be ready for Monday.

Kitchen did come in a huge Harrods van though so the neighbours probably think we have won the lottery or something.:D
