Garmin or Tomtom?
Comments
-
I bought a TomTom One a couple of months ago and was so disappointed with it that I have just sold it on eBay. I have had a Garmin GPS V for a good number of years now and even though by todays standards it is old and outdated, it still outperforms the TomTom. Granted, the TomTom is easy to program whereas the old Garmin was a bit fussier (modern Garmins are very easy though) the fact remains that even the old Garmin is better than the modern TomTom.
If I am looking to buy another satnav at any time it will definately be Garmin.Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0 -
Worth checking exactly what the bluetooth features are. On the TT One, it's only data - you need to go for 520 or above to get handsfree phone (I had to take my original one back and get a 510 last year.
I used to ahve a garmin but prefer the TT. All down to personal preference though.
PS - Is it just me, or do garmin's sound huffy when they say 'recalculating'Space for rent, apply within - Free trial on Thanks button though0 -

OOPS! Sorry for the delayed reply. I have only just discovered a way to check responses to my posts, and up until now have had a hard time remembering what and where I posted.
The main problem with my TomTom was one of routing. For those who want it to guide them to a destination it is actually ok, but I was using it to find the shortest routes while driving a taxi in my local area. Naturally, I knew many of the roads very well but I discovered that it often took me a longer way to my destination (it was set for shortest route). On two occasions it actually tried to take me down a road that didn't exist, despite the maps being fully up to date.
For what it's worth I have since bought another satnav, and it is a Garmin. It is only my personal opinion of course, but it puts the TomTom to shame.
That being said, TomTom is a good unit for those who simply want to know the way (Isn't that why most people buy a satnav?)Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0
