paying twice for life insurance

We have been paying for a life policy which we believed was cancelled in in 1992. When we changed our mortgage provider
We are trying to get a refund .
Do we have a leg to stand on ?

    No. You can have as many life assurance policies as you like.

    What proof do you have of cancellation?

    Do you have any written reqeust or acknowledgement?

    If you have no proof at all then I suspect your case is likely to fail.

    For most other insurances yes but as Dunstonh says you can have several life inssurance policies.

    so if either of you had died and this old policy was found, i presume you wouldnt have claimed on it as it should have been cancelled:rolleyes: . so unfortunately you have no chance.

    How does what your paying and the benefits compare to later policies? You might be better off to continue.

    Do the sums and let the figures tell you best option.

    If your nottoo strapped for cash keep it, you can't have too much life cover.
