MFI - my table is falling apart!

I wonder if any of you can help. I bought my dining table and chairs from MFI 3 years ago. A few weeks ago, a huge crack has appeared the whole length of the table and is so wide that you can see right through it to the floor! I have emailed MFI who have said it is over a year old now so it's tough.
Is that correct? I don't have the money just to go and buy a new one and surely a table should last for more than 3 years. There seems to be a fault in the wood and it has split.
Is there anything I can do or do I just have to lump it?!
