financial disassociation for BR

Hi- i hope this is in the right place.

I had a thread before about going bankrupt and some very helpful souls suggested i needed to financially disassociate myself from my OH before going bankrupt and gave me a link about how to do so. But i was wondering if i could get some comments about my disassociation letter. Should both myself and my OH send the letters to the 3 credit reference agencies and what sort of reply should i expect??

so far i've got;

To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing in order to financially disassociate myself from ***********, with whom I have previously had two joint accounts. Both accounts have since been closed and I have enclosed proof that they are no longer existing accounts.
The first is a HSBC joint current account, for which I enclose the closing statement. The second is an ABBEY joint current account, for which I enclose a letter sent to me by ABBEY which states that the account has been closed.
I would be very grateful if a Notice of Disassociation could be place on my credit files.

    I'm guessing no news is good news?? If my letter was terrible someone would have said so, right? LOL :)

    I rang experian and they got me to fill an online form in. They have now processed the disassociation and advised the other agencies.

    Does anyone know if you can dis-associate yourself if you have a joint mortgage?

  • I dont think so I was able to disassociate while living at the same address but was not allowed to have any joint accounts. Worth a call though.

    Callcredit have sent us a form to fill them- then apparently they do all the running work to check we're not telling porkies & then they inform the other credit reference agencies. The other two haven't replied to the letters yet though.
  • Sounds the same as what experian did.

    The form i got through today from experian asks me to justify why i want the financial link to be severed despite still living together. I have no idea what to put- just guessing i shouldn't say 'because i need to declare bankruptcy'?? lol

    Received the letter from equifax today.

    OH and i got same letter which states ''our records show that you either do not have an equifax credit report, or your report is now out of date.... For security reasons equifax do not action queries where ther is no credit reference or the credit report has expired, as a recent credit reference allows us to view your information and deal effectively with your query. You can obtain a copy of your credit report by the following options...''

    So i HAVE to purchase a copy of my credit report or they won't disassociate us!?! I can't understand why they are being so unhelpful when the other two are being fine?

    Does anyone know if i can just deal with the other two credit reference companies and still be completely disassociated from OH? I can't go bankrupt if there is still a financial link between us :(
