Posted To Buyers Registered Address Instead Of Invoice Address

I had an email from a buyer stating that he had not received an item posted a week ago and enquiring which address I had sent it to.

As i had proof of postage I realised that I had sent it to his registered address instead of address on invoice.

I emailed the buyer and stated the address it was sent to and asked whether he could track it down from the address sent to.

Buyer has responded stating he will look into. If the buyer is unable to track down or says he cannot find it I guess im liable.

Am I right in saying that I would have to give refund of all costs to buyer as it was my faultfor sending to the non invoice address?

How did they pay? Are you talking about an ebay address, or a paypal address?

Buyer paid via Paypal. I know it sound terrible but Im not sure where I even got the address I used but the buyer has confirmed he has a connection with that address. The buyer did not pay imediately and item was packaged resulting in me stupidly copying what I now know as the wrong address? Thanks Fay

I have since gone back inot order details and the address shown is not the one I used when cross ref with proof of postage receipt

Forget checking ebay for addresses.

Have a look at the transaction in your paypal account. What address does it show there? That's the one you're meant to use. If it's wrong there, it's their fault.

you should send it to the address that is stated in paypal, unless it is otherwise stated in the transaction details. Sometimes I get stuff sent to my work but ALWAYS state that in the payment details so that there is no confusion. If the address is wrong and there is nowhere saying to send it to X address, then it is the buyers fault, not yours.

just to add as a seller it should only be the confimed address and not a different one in the notes section

I know I am only doing a 'me too' post, but if a seller does not use the paypal confirmed address then they are not covered by seller protection. For smaller items I might risk sending to another address, but I certainly wouldn't for anything of value. No confirmed address, no goods.
