BT bills -

I thought BT bills were supposed to be quarterly for personal users?

hubby was sent a reminder yesterday for £125.39, we phoned them up to say we had paid £130 and what was the £125.39 , it seems it is another bill!
so we checked the account online and we have been sent a bill every month for the last three months!

14th feb 2008 – 139.33
26th mar 2008 – 130.00
10th april 2008 – 125.89

we are option 2 for calls and option 3 for broadband, (are we on the correct options?)

but yet looking back through a bill for Feb 2007 and May 2007 , we have been charged for internet, yet we have been on broadband since Nov 2006

could we complain to Ofcom?

BT Broadband charges are quoted monthly and when I took broadband BT moved me to monthly billing for my phone too. I think that it the norm now for new phone customers to be put on monthly contracts.

We can't tell you which would be the right service for you as we don't know your requirements.

The charges for broadband don't stop. You must continue to pay a monthly fee. Are you saying that you are paying for calls for dial-up access to the internet as well as for broadband?

Would need to know what the bill ID's and what the charges are for exactly.

The standard billing is quarterly, unless requested and on whole bill direct debit.

A company can send a bill out for services whenever it likes in theory, providing the charges are correct.

It could be that your broadband is billed separate, thus more frequent bills being sent.

OFCOM don't deal with complaints from individuals and would advise that you follow the complaints procedure of the company fully before going to them. What would happen is that they may contact the SP (There is a particular department they contact) and advise that they have been contacted by a customer.

If the complaints procedure has been fully followed then the next step is to refer the complaint to OTELO, who are the ombusman for telecommunications.
If saved £2710 and only spent the interest (Based on a return of 5%), you would have enough money to pay your TV Licence every year. Saving you £7452.50 over a period of 55 years, based on you buying a license from the age of 20 until your 75 at a cost of £135.50.
