from what i have heard these chrome metal pots arent good for the plants as they conduct the heat and cook the roots!!!
you could get some plastic or terracotta pots and spray the outside silver!

The only place I've found cheap silver coloured metal ones is Homebase in winter around January/February. They are not chrome though.
Pots need lots of watering particularly if the weather is hot. There as with borders plant roots can grow deeper so you don't need to water them as much.
If you can put some sort of self watering irrigation device in them like these:

That way you won't have to water them everyday or twice a day, and you can go on holiday without worrying that your plants will die.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Yes. You just stick them in the soil like self-watering plant spikes.
The water spikes or water wizards you can get much much more cheaply from Wilkinsons. The Wilkinsons ones don't seem to fit plastic bottles as well as the more expensive ones.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

The homebase pots and troughs were / are galvanised steel.
With all these types of pots i recommend lining them with anti weed mat or similar, this reduces the heat conduction and stops the roots from frying. Been doing this for years and never had a problem with plants in metal containers.0 -
ikea has loads of different sized metal bucketsAll my views are my monkey's views. I give advice on behalf of my pet monkey and do I give banana related advice. All my posts are my monkey's opinion and no-one else's.0

Yikes, I`ve bought several of these. The shrubs are in full sun too. I`ll have to keep an eye on them.0
