Just wondered if anybody uses this package(Tesco)and if it is worth changing to.
I am currently on Bt option 1 and my bill is usually no more than £45 per quarter. Most of this is line rental. I wouldnt have a landline if it wasn't for the computer.
Please, can anyone save me any money???
many thanks

Keep your line rental with BT as they are the only provider that has to give you access to cheap call providers. Also they give you free Cli,other providers charge.
Put your peak call traffic, and mobile calls over https://www.1899.com Calls to 01/02 numbers just 3p connection, speak for free.
Put your evening and weekend calls on https://www.justdialsaver.com who give them to you free unlike Tesco,s.
Use the free DQ service 0800 0192 190.
Consider getting an Orchid dialler to save time see sticky above.PF.0 -
Here is some further info on Tesco Home Phone Service,as promised.
1.The service is run by Cable and Wireless on behalf of Tesco,s.
2.You do get Tesco points on your bill, and if you sign up online they reduce your bill by 5%.
3.It does offer you a free DQ service.
4.Its calling plans tend to be uncompetive. It does not offer free weekend callslike other carriers.
5.Its calling plans are more expensive then other carriers.Calls to mobiles and Intl callsare not the cheapest.
6.It has quarterly billing, cant do monthly.
I have heard no complaints about it, it does what it says. But there are a few cheaper and equally as good competitors aroundPF.0 -
I checked out the JDS site and the T&C state -

To save customers' time and to ensure valid entries are processed as quickly as possible a quick eligibility check is required. Customers should ensure they can answer "yes" to the following questions, to check eligibility:
Just-dial residential landline customer?
Requested a single just-dial plan on or after 16th May 2005?
Have received your just-dial bill for a single saver plan?
Still have a saver call plan on your just-dial account?
BT bill covers same phone number as registered on just-dial?
Used BT for all calls prior to requesting just-dial? ****
Have not already challenged the just-dial Guarantee?
Just-dial account not currently blocked for non-payment of bills?
Can enclose the quarterly (or three monthly) BT Together bill(s) in your name, for the three months prior to requesting a just-dial plan?
If you satisfy the points above please send your application in writing with the original BT Together bill for the three months immediately prior to signing up for a single just-dial Saver plan. Please retain a copy for your records. You don't need to enclose your just-dial bill.

See **** - I am on BT but have used 18866 and 1899 and Onetel for calls so according to this I can't sign up for JDS - am I reading this right? It would be handy to use this for evenings as most of my calls are made then.

That appears to be the price promise rather than conditions for signing up for Justdial. A bit like TalkTalk would give you £1,000 or something if you found that they were dearer than BT

We're so confident that just-dial Saver customers are better off compared with BT's equivalent call plan that we will happily provide 1 year free calls to UK landlines to numbers starting 01 and 02, in the unlikely event that you're not.0 -
I have ready some where on this site that you cant sign up with Justdialsaver if you are a Onetel ex Telco Global customer.JDS is owned by Onetel just in case you were not aware.PF.0

I have Tesco Home Phone (the CPS service - line rental still with BT). I only signed up for it because there was a 2000 Clubcard point sign on bonus (which I don't think is running at the moment but it may return).
I hardly use it for calls. The only calls I put through it are:
1) Calls to other Tesco Home Phone subscribers (really free ie. 0p connection, 0p/min).
2) Calls to Tesco's DQ service (really free ie. 0p connection, 0p/min)
3) NGN number in Spain (I only had to do this once but 18866/1899 didn't allow it).0
