Hot Dog Anyone?

Cage fan, JCR? Ours is currently on the cage but will be on the dog guard in the next couple of days when the cage is replaced 'cos he doesn't fit anymore.
Think it was about a fiver from Argos and I think you can buy a mmians adaptor for it - if not, we're just using cheap 'd' batteries from tesco (so that when you leave the fan on overnight it isn't such a tragedy *tut*). It's a godsend to our pup and worth every penny. It aint over til I've done singing....0 -
I try to avoid taking my dogs out when its too warm and just take them into the garden for the loo and do proper walking early am and late pm when its cooler, they are black coated so tend to feel the heat more.
A greyhound trainer said the best way to cool them was to wet their bellies, armpits and paws and use a damp towel over them, but not to wet the back while in the sunshine. If its warm the dogs usually lay in a shady spot so the grass cools their belly, we always take water out too. They also like to stand and cool their paws in a bucket and i bet they'd like a paddling pool.
JCR you could pop a damp light coloured towel/cloth over them so the sun through the windows doesn't heat them up too much, i've also seen some cooling mats and collar/bandana which might be useful.0 -
I hate the summer times for our pooches .... ive got a choc lab and he just lolls around in the sunshine! ... i walk him early morning and then late evening .. i never take him out for a walk during the day if its hot ....
I make him liver lollys .. boil up some liver to make treats and then the juice freeze it! ice cubes yummy! ...
also a towel soaked through rung out and then put on the floor for him to lay on outside if we have been out ...
Weve tried the paddling pool but he wont go in it! not sure why! and he doesnt like the hose altho first sign of a puddle or bog and hes in it!Hoping to be a thinner me in 2010!0
