Hi guys
A quick question for ya
I recently applied for an HSBC account with CC and was (as seems to be the norm lately) delined
Ok, fair enough, no biggie, I have a Natwest Account with Switch, Cheque Book and Overdraft so not a problem anymore.
But this morning, I received a letter from FIRST DIRECT inviting me to APPLY for a current account with them.......
.......Now, aren't FIRST DIRECT owned by HSBC? They have just declined me as my credit rating wasn't up to their standard and they have asked me to apply for another account for which they will check my credit file AGAIN and possibly damage it even further by doing so and then it will be a BIG FAT NO again.
What is the point of decling me and then asking me to apply for one of their sub-companies as they obviously don't want me as a customer?
Thanks
Matt

You've probably been added to their mailing list - regardless of your previous applications/declines.0
-
Niteflier, being invited to apply does not mean you wil be accepted.

It's automatic, you've just been put on their mailing list, they don't care about your credit file

They can't possibly khow whether they'd accept/decline you before they run the credit check though.Niteflyer wrote:EXACTLY MY POINT!
So why send me an invitation that could possibly damage my credit file further????
By your logic, they'd have to run credit checks on the people that they're targeting before they sent out the mailshots. I'm sure you can see that this is impractical.0 -

Ummmmm NO, as far as I know HSBC own FIRST DIRECT and HSBC already did a credit check and declined me!
So why bother sending me an invite when they know that they will decline me!"I Assume I Need No Introduction"0 -
It happens all the time, no offence mate, but you've gotta get over it
