1 year fixed savings: natwest or abbey??

apologies for my crude language, im a 'money idiot'. i hate banks and dont know what half the terms mean (i usually rely on my dad)
so ok i need fix around £10,000 for a year preferably, possibly 2 if 1 isnt posible. abbeys savings account gives me back aroun £600 at the end. natwest has a 'community bond' thing for 1 year investments, but i dont know how much i can make back from that one.
any advice appreciated

See HERE for 2 year 'best buys' and HERE for 6 month/1year 'best buys'.0 -
I don't know why Moneyfacts ignore the ICIC term deposit of 7.0% for one year, they do show ICIC in other sections like the best internet savings section.Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

I would go with a bigger provider than icesave and more secure....Halifax have a better rate than both on 1 year fixed....I think its 6.50% at the mo....0

ICEsave is very secure (we've been through this before adnauseam) and at present is the best at 7.01% for the one year.0

Yes Halifax currently offering Guaranteed Reserve 1 year fixed at 6.50% AER/Gross.
Min deposit £500 and cannot withdraw or deposit for the term - simple and no frills!I work for Halifax (a division of Bank of Scotland plc, owned by HBOS plc, owned by Lloyds Banking Group plc). Any comments or views are my personal comments and opinions and not those of my employer. Oh and I might (on the odd occasion) get something wrong, if I do then I do apologise in advance!!0
