any working tax credit experts?

ok, my dad started a job in january 2007 it is 30 hours a week on the minimum wage. being over 50 he qualified for a higher rate of working tax credit for 12 months. he was getting roughly £80+ a week tax credit. at the end of january 2008 that was cut to roughly £40+. since the beginning of april it has gone down further to £19 a week. that seems a bit low considering he only works 30 hours. so should he query it or is that the right amount? he isnt married and does not have any kids under 18.

It all depends on what his income is. Get your dad to use the tax credit calculator

to see if his payments are correct.

    thanks.
the problem with that is it is geared towards new claimants and not people who have been claming it for a period of time.

When you say he was getting higer rate for 12 months do you mean he was receiving the working tax credit 50plus ? This is only awarded for 12 months max.

yes it was the 50plus. the thing is 3 months after that ran out he got another cut from £40+ down to £19. it coincided with the new financial year.
