Stopped at my sons new garden on way home from work to help with ' is this a weed mum?'
Oh yes, he has creeping buttercup, lots of it, everywhere and his garden is 70' long http://www.dgsgardening.btinternet.co.uk/crbutcup.htm

He wants to be organic if poss and does not like the idea of systemic weed killers..he may well change his mind as he has lots of bindweed as well!!

Bindweed I know how to deal with, the creeping buttercup never had.
Reading that the seeds can last up 80 years:eek: does not bode well.

Any one any tips for removing it other than creating a lot of holes in the garden digging it up?

He can spend lots of time digging it up if he wants to be organic or he can treat the individual plants with Roundup and get rid of it - and the bindweed - and their roots. Be vigilant over the next few years and treat each plant as soon as it shows itself.

I've spent the day digging this stuff out  that and a lot of dock too. Previous owners of our house let the garden run riot and now it's so hard to get it all back into shape. I have to admit though, the garden does look better where I have dug the buttercup out round the beds. My lawn is another story. 2 hours tonight with a scarifier and it's still shedding lots of moss etc. It's going to be a labour of love this year *sigh*
