OK, this is going to sound totally weird, considering my comment about the VAT on purchases. I run a business (have card) and the VAT man who inspected my books, earlier this year, was wandering around Makro with his wife! So i think the Govt. concession still applies!

Or perhaps he ran himself off a nice letterhead on his computer at home for "Mr VAT Inspector Services" and got two invoices made out to him and applied for a card!!!! :rotfl:
    Then again perhaps not

Perhaps he was checking if Makro are doing "CASH" sales :D

perhaps the mans WIFE had a business and a card!
At the moment you need self employment registration and two invoices if you are a one man/woman band, I havent even got this yet as a new business but am hoping my self employed tax bill will do, whenever it arrives. Its very hard to get a Makro card it seems to me (worked there one Christmas, got one then which you lose when you leave, grotty place to work though!)

I think Makro is only good for it's special offers, otherwise I find goods cheaper in the shops. Whenever I have had a problem with goods, even upto a year old they have always refunded.

Didn't need self employment registration when I joined although that was quite a while ago - perhaps you should query this with them explaining you haven't long set up (assuming you haven't already) Invoices are easy enough - some garages will hand write a VAT receipt for you as will some shops. If you buy something from somewhere like curry's where they fill in name and address put in your trading name - you don't have to put it through your accounts. Or get a friend with a business to raise you an invoice

    KIDS BIKES (EXCEL 20") £49.99

I bought one of these this morning. It's a really nice bike for the cost. Not too heavy and very sturdy.

Bought the bright yellow one as that's my sons favourite colour. He loves the little bike he already has, and is out on it most nights. He's got no idea he's getting a bigger bike for Christmas so I can't wait to see the look on his face when he sees it :)
Here I go again on my own....

    Hi Beccles

I'm going on Saturday but I've cadged a lift with my parents (& kids as well) roughly what size are the bikes when packed? Well I guess what I want to know is do they come with the wheels on or with them off so I might be able to squeeze it in my dads car (his face will be a picture!!!)

The front wheel, handle bars and pedals need fixing on, but the box is still very big. I've got a Ford Puma (about Fiesta size). With the back seats down, it just fit into the boot!

You could always take the bits out the box though and leave the box behind! It would fit into a car much easier like that.

    Thanks Becles!
He's got a VW Touran so I may be in luck! Failing that me and the kids could hold onto it in the back for the 60 mile journey home - mad but alot less hairy than the 100 mile trip with an escaped hamster on the loose!!!!
  • Hi Becles,

Got my son the same bike in the bright yellow this morning!!! Sons birthday tomorrow!
I have not set it up yet, cos i now he likes to open the box, hope all the parts r there and its easy to set up? I imagine he will be insisting that I set it up during his party, along with the other 15 kids that are coming !!!!
Will let u know if I survive!!
    Regards

    Sandy
