Hi Tony
My pin money challenge! - old style board
How much money I've saved from
a) vouchers at Tescos and refunds from them for overcharging me
b) virtual is from freebies in kind eg free case of wine from my tesco vouchers
It's actually from last month as we went on holiday and I haven't had a chance to update it yet.
In short in August I saved £39.11 by using money off vouchers and Tescos overcharging me for two packs of cheese (keep cheese & get refund)0 -
Thanks now I understand I was baffled for a moment.0

AFAIK you can no longer have a day pass.
You can get a card through your employer. I had one in my last job as I used to pop out and buy tea/coffee etc and stationary from there. I currently have a card through my Mam's business.
Some offers are good, but watch the VAT. I find they are useful for bulk buying loo rolls, kitchen rolls, washing powder and cleaners when they are in the Makro Mail offers. I also buy bits of food in there. The freshly baked muffins and croissants are gorgeous, and the butcher gets some lovely cuts of meat in. Not the cheapest, but worth paying for the quality. Here I go again on my own....0 -

I have probably got it wrong, but I always assumed that the day pass was available in case you'd forgotten to bring your proper card so couldn't get in - the charge being for them to look you up, verify you & issue a temp. pass?
Also on the new offers is a memory foam mattress. It's been on offer before so did anyone get one last time, & if so, how good is it? Thanks for any feedback.0 -
My hubby used to work at Makro and ex-staff who were made redundant were always able to get a day pass. However when we went a couple of months ago we were told that they no longer issue day passes because they're not allowed, something to do with money laundering lawssandra_3086 wrote:sorry!!! there was a notice on the desk at customer reception about it too. Thankfully they've issued him with a permanent card now so we can still shop there. Dum Spiro Spero0 -

OK, this is going to sound totally weird, considering my comment about the VAT on purchases. I run a business (have card) and the VAT man who inspected my books, earlier this year, was wandering around Makro with his wife! So i think the Govt. concession still applies!0 -
Went there once ( A few years back), and bought a hoover for a good deal, a bumber pack of electric toothbrush heads and some bits and pieces in the groceries bit.
Hour later, went to the till:
Lady said : your card?
I said: what card?
Lady said: you need a membership to pay for your stuff? And how did you manage to get in?
I said: Dunno just walked in.
Lady said: no, no, no you need a membership card to pay the goods. Go to the Customer Services.
And so I did, Guy at C/S was baffled how I had just walked into the place without being stopped for my card.
In the end I left the place empty handed and P*** off as I needed to own a business to get the membership which I don't have.
