What's the cheapest I can carpet my newly deocrated bedroom?
The room is 4.22m x 3.12m and I really only want a very basic beige carpet, nothing fancy, pretty much the cheapest in the range so long as it's not "indusrial" if you know what I mean.
I've just had a quote of £160.00 approx from CarpetRight including fitting. Is this about average? I'll go for it for convenience if I have to but would like to shop around if it'll make me a saving.
Also, any ideas for fitting costs? There is an offcut in the shop that might do - would it be cheaper for me to get a fitter in independently of the shop?

I got a 14`3" x 14` carpet fitted with underlay and gripperrods for £120 a few weeks back, but it was a local small place near to me (NE Mcr) it was a carpet they had a batch of going cheap.
Might be worth shopping around and asking for total price incl everything you need so you can compare prices. Some places charge a low price for the carpet and then bump it up with overpriced underlay and fitting. Try a few small shops too if there are any local.0 -
altho capret rights price for the carpet maybe reasonable, most people are of the opinion that they seriously overcharge on all the extras, underlay grippers etc.
Id get a quote from some smaller local places.0 -
Where did you go in NE Mcr? I'm based in SE (Levenshulme).Holiday of a lifetime - December 2010

Try a carpet remnant shop. They may have something end of line. Also, if you just want to do it on the cheap, felt backed carpet is cost effective. You also don't need gripper rods with felt backed. Fitting should be no more than £50.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
