Hi Im hoping someone can help with advice.

Daughter with Npower on Keymeter. No problems till week before last. Realised it was costing her a lot more. In one week it has cost her £26.00. In that week she was out most of the time. She hardly uses tumble dryer and has no computers and nothing excessive. Neighbours with same company and tarriff it costs them a lot less and they have more electrical equiptment. They are on keymeters also. One friend uses just over £5 a week. Npower asked her to take readings same time each day. She rang them today and was told thats normal amount in a week. Has asked for her meter to be checked but will charge her £75.00. Which she hasnt got. I ahave tried to work things out and it does seem excessive to me. A friend reccomends she rings back and asks for a supervisor. We are not sure what the next step can be but she can not afford that in a week. Sorry for the long post.

Check the tariff for standing charges or debt repayment rates which can be programmed onto the key by your supplier.

    Get her to check screens F, I , K, S & T
    F - Standing Charge
I&K price per kWh Day & Night
    S - debt on meter
T - rate debt being paid back at.

Has the meter recently been swapped from a token meter? They were often on old (cheaper) prices, and she may be paying back the difference.

Thank you for your replys. We may have found the culprit. Grandson has had extra speakers wired up to his hifi. Daughter was out helping other grandson last week. So he will have been [strike]blasting[/strike] playing his music non stop. She got back on to Npower today and they were helpful. Have done a price comparison for her and she is changing to EDF. he has taken the extra speakers off and she is going to check her usage.
