Stores overcharging

Options
Is it just me or are lots of the big stores making 'mistakes' at the tills. Over the past several months I have noticed that the price at the till is more than the price on the goods. Usually it is with the bargains that have been reduced on the goods but not at the till. I know that mistakes do happen, but in the past 2 months I have noticed discrepancies at Asda, Sainsbury's, The Range, B&Q, and a few others. Some I have not picked up on until I have got home and checked through the receipt - when I'm doing a big shop it's not practical to watch or remember the price as every item goes through the till.
Maybe I've just become more unlucky lately icon7.gif

The last two times I have been to asda I have picked the 2 for £3 fruit boxes and only when I have gotten home have I realised that they didn't go through at this price but at £2 each. Grrr.
    Money Saved for a house deposit so far = July 2008 £3331.09, August £4396.40, September £5,048.37 (Target = £9,000 by July 2009) 56% there already!:j

If I have helped you in any way, please thank me! :p

happens about 50% of the time where the final bill is incorrect. Thing is it's always more, I've yet to be under charged. At times I do wonder if it's done on purpose. At my local supermarket it's got so bad that I now shop elsewhere.

The best system I have seen is the local tesco that when things are reduced, a new barcode (with the price coded into it) is stuck over the original. Sainsburys still mess about with hand written labels!
 I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.
  • I've had a couple of cases recently where I have been short-changed by the auto tills - you know the ones where you scan the shopping yourself?
Both times I have drawn it to the attention of the "assistant" who has paid up the difference without saying anything.
Maybe because it happens so frequently? I always make sure I check my change carefully now.
I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break :D

I'm a manager at a shop / store. I would agree that there are problems with price changes / differences but... how many people complain when an item hasn't been relabelled that has gone down in price?? ;)

I won't name the company I work for but, I've only just found out the computer will not print a new label for a price change if the item is currently out of stock. It may be the same at other chains

i wont use the auto tills - on principle - the prices on the shelf take into account the wage bill and therefore is bad value if you DIY!! also if these machines take off they will slowly be increased - replacing cashier who need their job!!!

I've thought that too. Although I do like using them for speed as they are often empty - i have found that they seem to throw up so many errors that the assistant on them is far busier than the manual check-puts! They haven't quite got the weight in the bagging area sorted yet.

Don't know if it's just me, but if there's an error, it always seems to be to my disadvantage. I really can't remember when (if:rolleyes:) there was an error in my favour.
