RAC Legal Expenses Insurance - from £4/person/year
At renewal of my motor policy, my insurance company wanted £18 for "Legal Expenses Insurance". Not wishing to dispense with the legal expenses cover entirely, I looked around for alternatives.
RAC Legal Expenses Insurance offers Family cover for up to 5 drivers for £20 per year. As there are 5 drivers in our family (the drivers do not have to reside at the same address), it seemed to be a good deal at £4 per driver per year. Even at £10 for a single person, it is cheaper than the £18 I was quoted by my insurance company. These prices are for a 'continuous annual payment' ie direct debit arrangement.
Although the website quotes different prices depending on whether or not you are an RAC member, when I phoned, the helpful woman said she only had one price on the screen, which was the (lower) members price!

Thanks for this. I am shopping around for motor insurance at the moment and always opt for the legal cover but it usually puts more than £20 on the policy so this seems a good deal.
(For me anyway).0 -
Legal expeses cover, is actually very cheap for providers to buy in and sell on at high prices,as add on's to motor and home insurance policies, for example I have a policy which includes home, motor , employment and tax -for the year- includes, self, spouse and children, at IMHO very low cost
Unfortunately due to regulations/ setup I can't offer it for general sale ( looking at ways around this issue)Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0
