H/made nettle fertiliser pong! and advice plz

We have collected nettles which have been decomposing in water for weeks ready to put on our tomatoes. However, the pong is so foul the neighbours are looking a bit funny at me:o. So my first question is - Can I decant the pongy water into containers, or do you have to keep the nettly stuff as well? and my second question is - Do you bung the fertiliser on neat or are you meant to just put a bit into a large watering can, fill up with rainwater and then bung it on?

fish out the nettles and throw them on the heap then bottle the liquid and LABEL IT WELL then use it diluted as undiluted could be a bit strong.

Depending on the strength, about 6 pounds of nettles in 45 gallon of water left for 3 weeks can be used neat. Less water and you need to dilute it around 1 part nettle juice to 20 parts water.
Also leave some nettles to flower as this is food for two endangered butterflies......

Thank you all for your helpful advice. We have loads of nettles around for wildlife as next doo has never cut their grass and their garden is a mass of nettles.;)
