Can you send faxes online for free?

I need to fax some documents to Amazon, (they are insisting on a fax for some reason  ) but I don't have a fax machine.
Does anyone know of a free way to convert a scanned document into a fax online? Or do I have to hunt down a fax machine by the end of the day (time limit)

Thanks in advance!

Sorry to bump the thread so blatantly but its real urgent/important I get this done today. Have googled for ages looking for a way to do this, and most are only letting me send a simple text fax and I need to send a copy of bank statements.

    Thanks again....

http://fax.co.uk/products/tx.htm - expensive (£10 to set up) but, if you type email to fax into Google you may find something cheaper or even free.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

this has been around for years, and has always been free. they do put an advert on it, and you can only send plain text...
