Birmingham is 11 hours drive from me

Cathy, could you catch a train to Birmingham or York? Express train journey should be quicker than driving.

Having a poll's a good idea Caterina, why not start a thread where people put their prefered cities/towns etc. and how far north/south/west/east they're prepared to travel? Also any suggestion for dates?

    Ok will do.

I think that date-wise mid-March for me, enough time to recover from Christmas expenses, warmer weather, past February Half Term and before Easter.
