hope somebody can give me some idea what to do next
a few weeks ago the circuit breaker tripped the downstairs sockets only and wouldnt reset. waitied about 40 mins unplugged everything and it reset. thought no more about it.
tonight its tripped again (after a lot of flicking on and off) and will reset but no power on downstairs sockets. i cant get the circuit breaker out, its on a board with two others and ive reset the main switch for that board - any ideas what it may be and what problem should i be looking for before i call and electrician???
ps upstairs (computer) and lights are ok - so thats why i can type this, missing eastenders though.

This is serious, and is not a problem that can be solved here.
The most worrying thing in your post is that you've reset the MCB/RCBO/RCD (you don't say which - maybe you don't know?) and still have no power to the sockets.
This would indicate that the fault was so severe that it has destroyed the internal mechanism/contacts of the breaker.
The cause of the fault (whether short circuit or earth fault) needs to be identified and rectified, and a new breaker fitted.
I'm afraid you need a visit from an electrician to sort this one out.0 -
thought it would be serious, just hoped it would be easy
