Hi all. I have virgin media for phone, television & broadband, what I want to know is which cable (and where can I buy one) do I need as I want to extend the length of the cable so that I can move my pc. I have seen one in argos that looks right but dont want to waste money buying the wrong one. Any idea which one I need & where is the best place to buy it ?
Many thanks in advance Karen.

the lead is an arial lead, however it is best to use a good quality one with a decent core or you may damage your signal, you may also need a splitter depending how its all connected up atm. The end that screws into the wall and into the box and modem is called an F connector btw, this is the same for satellite
you dont want one that pre made with plastic moulded ends, these are usualy inferior shielded cable and when you bend them round corners can degrade the signal. If you try to flex the stuff VM use you will find very stiff and you cant squeeze it, you really want to use the same stuff not like the bendy ariel leads you get on say portable ariels.
If I was you I would probably buy one off ebay, lots of sellers on there do this as its also used for satellite. Often you can specify the exact length of the cable and they make it up for you etc.
you might want to shop about to get either white or black to suit and at your needed length but look at the pic of this, this is what you want

and this one is bad or at least not as good, if you where moving the box an extra meter than I would say this is probably fine, but I would not really recomend it if you are moulding it round a room or two to move it properly.

you may be able to get the above cheaper from other sellers, but it had the best pic to explain what i ment about the cable being good quality, dont be scared if you have to put the ends on your self (if you ask nice i am sure the seller will do it anyhow, but you need to be 100% on the length, if you can wire a plug you can do it, you cut it back so its similar to the pic in that end and then use pliars and compress the f plug on the end, its easy when you see the connectors.
EDIT: forgot to say, if you just want to move the pc have you thought about just going wireless? a wireless router is 40 pounds now days possibly less, almost plug and play, leave it by the current modem and just connect back with no wires.it wont save money but saves unsightly cables running round and is great if you also have a laptop.0 -
Have you thought about a wireless router? For less than £30 you can have your PC anywhere in your home without the need for cables. I 've had one for about a month now and it is excellent.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
